DIRECTING TEAM, IMPACTIST JOINS RED TRUCK FILMS

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 20, 2008) – Impactist, the directing team of Kelly Meador and Daniel Elwing, recently signed with Red Truck Films for representation in the southeast. Their work is an inventive hybrid of real and synthetic elements, visual and musical, emotional and contemporary. They embrace experimentation as seen in their celebrated work for Nike, Peace Corps and Westin. The industry continues to recognize them as some of the best young directors to watch.

Originally from a small, historic community outside of Nashville, Kelly Meador graduated from the University of Tennessee with a BFA in graphic design with focus on the fine arts and photography. She was then recruited by Nike for her motion design skills and relocated to Portland. Meador spent eight years at Nike where she built her reel as a director and designer.

Daniel Elwing grew up in the rural areas surrounding the small town of Eugene, Oregon where his time as a child was spent experimenting with super8 and animation. After teaching high school film and video courses for two years and several attempts at college, film soon required too much of his time and he began to focus more on building real world experience. Years of commuting finally forced him to make a permanent move to Portland where he quickly began working at Nike and later teamed with Meador.

After creating countless pieces for Nike, they departed and formed Impactist. They have since grown their commercial reel and screened their short films throughout the world. Their spot work has appeared during the Super Bowl, and on AdCritic - Spot of the Day and Yahoo! Viral Pick.

Meador and Elwing say about their directing style, “We approach most every project from outside of the computer and therefore use the computer and other digital tools as just that, tools. Or, at the least, try to come up with new and unique ways to use existing technology in an unexpected way without the effects or techniques getting in the way of the central concept or story.”

Cathy Wilson, Executive Producer at Red Truck Films adds, “We are thrilled to have this talented team join us. Impactist has a unique ability to merge multiple mediums that create unexpected and powerful work.”
